Getting to Martha's Vineyard
By land: Google Maps
Martha's Vineyard is an island, so obviously the land ends before you get here, and you have to take a Ferry. Please use the two addresses below to find driving directions to the Ferry.
- Steamship Authority Ferry Terminal: 1 Cowdry Road, Woods Hole, MA 02543 (no parking here)
- Steamship Authority Ferry Parking Lot at Palmer Ave: 222 Palmer Avenue, Falmouth, MA 02540
By sea: The Steamship Authority
Here's the information for that Ferry we mentioned. The Ferry crossing from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven is about 45 minutes. The Starting Line is located right outside the SSA Ferry Terminal, just steps from where you debark the boat.
What boat do I take? (click here for schedule)
If you are arriving on Race Day, we recommend taking one of these boats:
- 8:15am Boat which arrives in Vineyard Haven at 9:00am
- 9:30am Boat which arrives in Vineyard Haven at 10:15am
Do I need reservations? If you are not bringing a vehicle you do not need a reservation, you can purchase passenger tickets in the Woods Hole terminal. If you are bringing a vehicle, you will need to make a reservation by calling 508-477-8660 or by visiting the SSA online reservation system.
Where do I park my car on the mainland? If you are not brining your car to the island, be sure to leave plenty of time to park your car, 30-45 minutes. You will most likely have to park at the SSA's Palmer Ave. lot in Falmouth and be shuttled to the ferry (click here for parking info).
By Air - Cape Air
Please visit the Cape Air website or call them directly at 1-800-CAPE-AIR, for flight information.
Where to Stay on Martha's Vineyard
There are many great places to stay on the Vineyard, but due to this race being during the Island's off-season, lodging is much more limited than in the warm months. If you are planning on staying on Island, we recommend making reservations well in advance. For the most complete list of places to stay, please visit the MV Lodging Association website.

Where to Stay on the Mainland
Of course we recommend staying on island, but due to the large number of people coming to the Island for this event and the holiday weekend, it is very likely that hotels and inns may be full. Please visit the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce website to find places to stay on the Cape.

MV Running Company and the Martha's Vineyard 20-miler committee are working to procure discounts at local businesses to help with your travel and accommodations. Please check back to this web site or our Facebook page for current offers.

Please be advised that all shuttles to and from the relay point are for athletes only. We appreciate your understanding that we must cater to the athletes' needs first. The public transportation on-Island is fantastic. Please visit Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) web site for more information. Click here to see routes/rates.
